http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118011639.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

It will apparently "feature the Herculean characters as superheroes...based on the TV show that first aired in 1988 and has been broadcast in more than 90 countries"

TRAILER: Van Damme & Lundgren together again for UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: REGENERATION

Looks F**KING AWESOME

Although they're very very old, and it will be straight-to-DVD...

Wolverine and Spielberg: together at last!

Real Steel will be a drama about a boxer who is put out of work when robots replace all human fighters. He reinvents himself as a promoter while bonding with an 11 year old son he didn't know he had.

Could be cool, could be sappy as heck...

Nicolas Cage is in another film. It's called SEASON OF THE WITCH

Wednesday, 18 November 2009

Yes we Khan - guess who's rumoured to possibly play the madman?

It's JJ Abrams's favourite man of all time, Richard Alpert (sorry, mayor of Gotham. No, sorry... Nestor Carbonell).

Ceti Alpha 6? OH NO!

Keanu in a Samurai movie

"47 Ronin" centers on a group of 18th century samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master. Chris Morgan, who counts "Fast & Furious" and "Wanted" among his writing credits, penned the screenplay.

Trailers for NINE

This is the musical starring Daniel Day Lewis, plus every woman who's ever existed: Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren and, um, Fergie.

The first trailer's cool - the second not as good.

Stallone scraps stupid monster idea for Rambo V

Remember that stupid monster plot touted for Rambo 5? Here's a reminder...

Well, he's dumped that idea. This is the email he sent to fansite STALLONEZONE:

This is from Sly to your followers:
To all the loyal SZoners out there,

I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished.
There will be blood.
Best,
Sly Stallone

Trailer for new Adam Sandler film: GROWN UPS

Looks extremely by-the-book, but actually I laughed a little when watching...

Erm.. Independence Day sequel to be a 2-parter...

...called ID4-ever?

Surely not. I mean, Roland Emmerich is a madman, but he's surely not THAT mad.

Anyway, this would never even slightly happen unless 2012 does bonza-box office...

THOR starts shooting in January...

This is from Production Weekly's Twitter:

http://twitter.com/prodweek/status/5672893628

Kenneth Branagh is directing Thor from a script by Mark Protosevich.

Here's the plot:

"The movie’s story sees the god of thunder Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth."

Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) is Thor, Anthony Hopkins is his father Odin and Natalie Portman is Jane Foster, who in the comics is nurse to Thor’s human alter-ego Donald Blake. Tom Hiddleston is the villanous Loki, Jaimie Alexander is the Asgardian warrior Sif, and Colm Feore is a villain whose identity is being kept secret. Stellan Skarsgard is in the cast, too.

post-THIS IS IT, are concert films the next big goldmine?

After the reasonable success of the documentary about a dead, past-it 50 year old's rehearsals for a series of concerts he only agreed to do because of crippling financial difficulties caused by his own bizarre and allegedly criminal behaviour, looks like the studio moneymen have realised that concert films could be the next big thing, again. In 3D, no less....

First up is a film titled "Larger Than Life...in 3D Featuring the Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper and Relentless7 and Gogol Bordello."

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118011197.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&nid=2562

Good concert films are rare - live music is a tough thing to capture authentically for cinemas. The documentary Gimme Shelter on the Stones' ill-fated Altamont concert, Bowie's sci-fi mentalness in Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars and The Beastie Boys’ Awesome, I…Shot That are among the few worth mentioning. Before Jacko died, the biggest concert movie of all time was Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds. So at least we’ll be able to thank This Is It for dethroning that little gem.

F****** Yogi Bear movie

Dan Ackroyd, the reverand Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris are all apparently in talks to STAR in the hybrid live action/computer animated movie based on the YOGI BEAR cartoon.
Oh, and it'll be in 3D. So that's great.

Prince of Persia trailer online now!

WHY DO THEY SPEAK WITH ENGLISH ACCENTS FOR GOD'S SAKE?? They're from Iran!!!

Anyway, the Assassin's Creed-style bit at the start looks cool, but otherwise this looks boring as heck.

TRAILERS for GREEN ZONE - Matt Damon in Iraq

"Inspired by Imperial Life in the Emerald City" my BUTT!
It looks like fun, and I expect it'll probably kick ass as a thriller, but nothing like the complexities of the book, at least in these trailers.

Trailer for INVICTUS

This is the drama about Nelson Mandela and the 1995 Rugby world cup.
The story is based on the John Carlin book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation.
Jason Bourne's in it too.
Now, Damon's accent is pretty good - but Morgan's is way off I'm afraid. Having said that, who the hell else could possibly play Nelson Mandela?

Adam Sandler to play Jack AND Jill...

STAR TREK DELETED SCENE - !KLINGONS!

It's pretty underwhelming. I can't believe how long I've been waiting to see this, and it's really pretty boring. Explains the whole space slug thing a bit more though, and I like how they're all wearing special masks, so we don't know if they're the dodgy old-school Klingons on not...

The clip shows Nero in Klingon captivity on Rura Penthe (the prison place Kirk & McCoy went to in STAR TREK VI). Nero stating "The wait is over"...seen in the film's promos but not in the actual theatrical release...

New Avatar international trailer

I have faith - recent trailers have looked a LOT more interesting. But still looks like a sub-par HALO movie.

Watch the first 8 minutes of the new 'V'

A-TEAM: first OFFICIAL photo

Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, Liam Neeson as Col John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Sharlto Copley as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as Sgt Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus.

They certainly look the part, though Qui Goon looks a little silly. It's out next June - so expect to see the van in Leciester Square around then.

Could Sam Worthington take over from Mel Gibson as MAD MAX?

In Mad Max 4: Fury Road????
Frankly, what's the point without Mel. And if they are starting afresh, why not just do a proper remake...

Gerard Butler doing Shakespeare with Ralph Fiennes

A very cool double-team.. Gerard says:

“It looks like I might be doing Coriolanus, the Shakespeare play, the movie version… the adaptation of. Ralph Fiennes will be directing and playing Coriolanus and I’d be playing Tullus Aufidius his nemesis!”

Stephen Fry wrting DAMBUSTERS for Peter Jackson?

Sounds absolutely perfect:
"Last night I attended a charity event with Stephen Fry, in which he was interviewed on stage about his life, friends (such as Hugh Laurie – when he Stephen was recently in LA shooting bones, he was in the lot opposite the House lot, and they had lunch together for a catch up) and ongoing/future projects. One of the more interesting movie tip-bits that he let slip was that he confirmed that the Peter Jackson DamBusters remake was in pre-production, with Stephen writing the screen play. He also commented that Peter had already created the Lancaster Bombers in New Zealand ready for shooting to begin. No dates were mentioned."

This is shaping up to be pretty cool - and directed by Kenneth Branagh too!

Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrell in Sex and the City 2

I know - I don't care either. But it can't be denied that the first film was simply gigantic, and the next one is likely to be too.

The following is from Latino Review
"About two weeks ago word was out that Miley Cyrus would have a cameo in the upcoming sequel to the Sex and the City movie -- appropriately and creatively named Sex and the City 2, of all things.
Now we have what might be the first look at her cameo in the film, thanks to the folks at Jezebel who spied a pic at INFDaily of Cyrus and Kim Cattrall wearing the exact same dress. As some of you might remember, and none of you probably care, Gossip Cop's scoop on the cameo said that Cyrus would be in the movie during a red carpet scene in which she and Cattrall's character, Samantha, show up in the same dress."

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Japanese trailer

You'll either love it or you'll hate it, but after watching all the material I've seen so far, I'm actually feeling much more positive than when I first heard the news "Jim Carrey is playing nearly all the characters in a motion-capture version of A Christmas Carol".
