Robert Downey Jr & Jon Favreau are Cowboys & Aliens

"Cowboys & Aliens: Based on a 2006 graphic novel series by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, the film will be set in the mid-1800s when aliens land in Arizona to enslave the race with only cowboys and Apache to defend the third rock.

Written by: Executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the writing team behind Star Trek and both Transformers movies) descended their producing towert last fall to work on the script with none other than Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof.

Starring: Robert Downey Jr jumped on the project when it was in the scripting stage and will take the lead in the battle for Earth circa 18-something. Cowboys & Aliens was one of his post-Iron Man hotness properties, as was the upcoming Sherlock Holmes.
