Worthington mentions that he understands there were dumb things in the script that he should have spotted, like how the gang of ridiculous morons didn't hear a massive robot approaching the gas station. For me, that wasn't even the biggest problem. It was more that the entire script and premise of the film was awful and badly thought out, the film was appallingly edited, and Christian Bale's performance was a joke.
